Many people think that the woman of the house should be solely responsible for duties in the kitchen, which include meal preparation and cleaning. This type of thing usually happened in earlier decades, even though there are still some old fashioned people that currently exist. These days, though, many men are helping out more, and even sometimes completely taking over the kitchen duties, freeing the woman to focus on other responsibilities. There are many men who are chefs, too, and many who can cook a whole lot better than some women. Women aren’t automatically better cooks just because of their gender and expected responsibilities.

These days, though, many men are helping out more, and even sometimes completely taking over the kitchen duties, freeing the woman to focus on other responsibilities. There are many men who are chefs, too, and many who can cook a whole lot better than some women. Women aren’t automatically better cooks just because of their gender and expected responsibilities.

Many people choose to attend culinary arts school, to become professional chefs. Some may think that chefs don’t make a lot of money, but this is a big misconception. It all depends on what dishes a chef specializes in, the amount of schooling he or she has had, as well as where he or she ends up working. The individual usually starts out at an entry level position and works their way up to an executive chef position. Executive chefs can make up to six figures a year, depending on where they work. If a recent culinary arts school graduate lands a job at a restaurant such as Appleby’s, Big Boy or Fridays, then he or she is not looking at making very much money. But if the new chef were to opt to work at a high scale restaurant where entrees exceed a hundred dollars, they should then be able to make a lot more money.

Some chefs even luck out and get the opportunity to be a celebrity’s own, personal chef. This type of chef position often includes many bonuses and perks, and pays better than any other chef position out there. It isn’t unheard of for a chef working exclusively for a celebrity to make one hundred grand a year, if not more.

So, the amount of money that a chef wants to make is totally up to him or her. If the person settles for a mediocre local restaurant’s chef position, then they will make no more than $40,000/year, tops, but if they want to make more money, then there are some awesome possibilities out there. It all depends on how ambitious and motivated a person is.
