Extend The Life Of Your Cookware In Five Easy Ways
If you are an avid fan of cooking then you will surely invest on the things needed for you to create your masterpieces. These things include ladles and spatulas, serving dishes and of course a wide variety of pots and pans.
We all know that there is a big difference when it comes to cooking using the oven and cooking using the stove top. Other than the source of heat, the cookware used is also different. In baking, heat is more or less evenly distributed as compared to stove cooking wherein hot spots are created. It is nothing new to find some food particles stick on various areas of your cookware. There are also times when you find some discoloration at the bottom or the sides of your pots and pans.
As we continue to use our cookware this may also undergo some changes. And if no ample care is provided, your cookware may end up in the trash faster than you think. Although cookware is bound to be replaced, there are some ways to at least lengthen its lifespan and usability and as well as preserve its appearance.
1. Always follow the manufacturer's cleaning and washing instructions. Do not forget that different materials used on cookware require different techniques during cleaning and washing. If the instruction says to use a nylon scourge, then use a nylon scourge. If the instruction states that abrasive cleaners should be avoided due to its detrimental effects, then don't use it.
2. Apply polishers or other coatings. Some cookware will require you to apply something after drying it. The most obvious reason is to preserve the natural shine and look of the material. These coatings will help eliminate water spots and other discolorations keeping your cookware good as new.
3. Fix loose handles. In case you notice that some handles are about to fall off it would be a good idea if you tighten the screw that holds it or you can also take it to a repair shop. Intact handles either on the lid or on the sides will help prevent accidents and keep the beauty of your beloved pot or pan.
4. Store them on racks or hang them. Do not stack up your cooking wares. Stacking up will result to some dents on the sides or on the bottom part of your cookware. Cookware with dents is rather unsightly. By placing them on the racks or hanging them you are keeping the pressure off of each pot or pan.
5. Avoid overheating and over cooking. Overheating will cause some unwanted reaction on your cookware's material while over cooking will result to crusts forming on the sides and bottom part. Crusts are usually dark and hard to remove and if not cleaned properly you will end up with a cookware that is rather marred.
Cookware are also investments so it would be natural for you to protect it. It is hard to imagine a kitchen without cookware just as hard as picturing a living room without the couch and side tables. The cookware completes the kitchen and by preserving its natural beauty you are also preserving the beauty of your kitchen.
